There are very much Semantics Theories in semantics as well as Linguistics some are obvious and some of them un obvious. Semantics is a term used to express the meaning of a given word in any particular language. If we consider the meaning of the word to be observed, they cover a wide variety. There is no general nature or phenomenon present to elaborate the aspects of meanings related to some word in a given language. It is an intangible concept in linguist history. No group of linguists or structuralism is ready to rely on or accept the view related to meaning in a particular context of a word. Meaning of a word is a debatable and matter of importance for all the linguist and philosopher. Many scholars of the Greek line have made favorable statements for the contextualized meaning that seems so relevant in the modern theories of semantics. It is broader and matter of high importance to cover the meaning of a particular word in syntax. Different linguists and scholars have presented theories in order to distinguish and highlight the meaningful aspects of syntax.
Broom field view of the meaning
The broom field gives utmost importance to the context of a particular situation in order to examine its meaning. He ponders over the idea and presented his views about the contextualized meaning of a situation or word. He considers the context of meaning as the source of expression in a linguistic form. It becomes integral to highlight the meaning of a particular situation in a general situation. He takes the aspects of meaning as a direct relation between the utterances called by a speaker and the response made by the hearer at the spot. The response made by the hearer at the spot is a matter of significance. It involves the whole idea that how the listeners have perceived the idea and in what sense he has been going to implement the idea. So the meaning of the word according to his views is the result of a direct relationship and it involves a quick response from the reader. Palmer used the whole concept as a reference to a particular situation. But the ideas of both stimulate a quick response from the readers and listeners. They take it as a source of developing a context to a general communication made between two native speakers. But both place more significance on the context of communication more than the actual event. They have made it a source of expression and highlight the meaningful thoughts in the communication process. They take the immediate response to an action as the primary element in the course of conversation or communication. Skinner has also promoted his views on the context of meaning and particular words in a given language. Broomfield is of the view that we can explain the meaning and context of some words and ideas actual and in the same way as they exist in natural words. This will be applied only to the objective study of an idea or the scientific study of any particular idea. There will be no need to change the aspect of the communication by general observation. He believes that a communication process is a natural event and human behavior and actions serve as a response to the particular event or communication.
The referential theory of meaning
The referential theory is one the obvious theories in semantics as well as linguistics. A direct theory was introduced to highlight the relationship between the meaning and the structure of the particular word. The referent is the word that is donated by a natural object in the linguistic theory of meaning. But the idea is only applied to the natural objects that exist already in the natural world order. In ancient times the scholars and philosophers have identified the relationship between words and objects. In order to highlight the meaning of a particular syntax or word is to relate it with the natural object existing in the world. It will provide a source to indicate the meaning of a particular situation or event with their context. This view has been criticized because it does not work well to explain the meaning of a word or syntax.
Explanation through a triangle relationship
Ogden and Richard have employed a triangle to explain the meaning of the word. The triangle consists of three main points such as symbol, referent and reference. The symbol is denoted as the word that is spoken in speech communication or verbal communication. It is represented through a general spoken word in any conversation made by two native speakers. Reference is a wider concept in this triangle. It is related to the expression and the meaning conveyed by those spoken words in communication. The referent is related to the actual part of this event or communication about what we are making the communication. It is an integral part of that communication. It provides an idea to be initiated by the speaker and thus there is a response made by that action. The hearers and listeners perceive the meaning from that conversation and made a significant response to that event. The broken lines influencing that there is no relationship between the word and the natural object. This view is directly related to the Greek concept of meaning and context of syntax.
The non-referential theory of meaning
The non-referential theory is one of the prominent theories in semantics in Linguistics. The bridge does not consider the physical properties of the object to consider the meaning of a particular word or event. It is related to the actual happening and the response related to that event. He considers the concept as a source of operations that led to producing a meaningful situation. Wittgenstein also states the definition of the meaning and the context of the word. It is related to the use of meaning and the context of a word in a given language at a particular time. It is about to indicate a direct relationship between the word and its context. He takes the meaning as the source of communication because it involves direct response. He makes his standpoint clear with the help of examples in order to indicate a quick response made by that particular communication. The meaning of different words involves different responses.
